Book Review: RECIPE FOR A PERFECT WIFE by @karmakbrown from @lakeunionauthors! 📕👩🏻‍🍳🍽 Currently unemployed, Alice and her husband, Nate, moved from New York City to the suburbs. In their new home, she soon becomes infatuated by an old cookbook left behind by the home’s previous owner, Nellie. Alternating between present day and 1955, an interesting story unfolds as Alice uncovers decades old secrets. How will they impact her own thoughts and life?

I loved that this book included classic recipes and quotes from 1950s magazines on how to be a perfect wife. The quotes were equal parts fascinating and maddening and definitely helped enhance and enrich the story as they allowed me to more fully understand Nellie’s perceived role as a 1950s housewife. My heart ached for what she endured. Lastly, this book also touched on the movement. Overall, this story kept me engaged, and even though I guessed part of the twist, it didn’t keep me from reveling in it. “The sun always returned as long as you were strong enough to wait for it.”
