I’m back 💃🕺🏼 Hello everyone, I know I’ve been absent for almost a week. I was back to college last week and it just ended up being a mad crazy, stressful week. I just didn’t feel like coming on, I didn’t have the energy tbh. But I’m hoping this week will be better! Onwards and upwards 🌺🎀 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Poirot is called into investigate the poisoning of an elderly woman at Styles. Everyone seems to be lying about something, and Poirot himself struggles at the start to put the pieces together. The book is narrated by his friend Hastings who fills Poirot in on the days leading up to Emily Inglethorp’s death. With many of the characters trying to cover for themselves and others, Poirot must use all of his detective skills to unravel the mystery.
This is the first Poirot book Christie wrote and it can be seen in the way the clues sometimes cancel each other out that Christie is still mastering mystery novels. However, I loved the plot and the characters. At the end of each chapter I had a different suspect in mind and although I was half right about the mystery I was not fully there which is unusual for me- and shows how good it was because I’m usually pretty good at guessing the ending!
