In the early hours of the morning, Maya stumbles onto the road, into the path of an oncoming bus. Her heartbroken husband is determined to find out what led to her untimely death. Was it a tragic accident? Suicide? In Adrian’s eyes they had the perfect life- she even got on with his children and two ex wives. But the further he digs, the more cracks begin to show in their life.
To be honest, I was disappointed with this book. I love Lisa Jewell, she is one of my favourite authors, but for me this didn’t hit the mark. The first half of the book I found very boring, there was nothing much happening and we didn’t even find out much about Maya’s life. For me, I didn’t think the story really got going until the last 100 pages. I’m not even sure if did get better, I’ve just been sick so had nothing to do but read which allowed me to get a good run at the book. Overall, the story had potential to be good, I liked the characters but the storyline and it’s pace let it down massively.
