It was supposed to be the perfect holiday. 4 women who have been best friends for as long as they can remember, making the most of a luxurious villa in France. But Kate has a secret- she has evidence that suggests her husband is having an affair. This holiday seems to be the perfect time to catch him in the act once and for all- because Kate believes he is having an affair with one of her best friends. As Kate gets closer to the truth she realises that the stakes are far higher than expected- because someone in the villa may just be prepared to kill to keep their secret hidden.
This book was such an easy read. I started it Friday in the middle of the night and finished it by lunchtime Saturday. The story goes in unexpected directions and every time you think you have the story figured out it goes a different way. I honestly couldn’t put it down. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because I just felt they revealed the ending too soon and it wasn’t a dramatic enough reveal. I feel like they shouldn’t have even suspected what had happened before the end because it wasn’t a big twist at the end. But, I loved the book. It showed how complicated family relationships can be. I liked how the lives of the children weren’t ignored either- they weren’t just seen as secondary characters, they had their own issues outside of their parents. Would definitely recommend this, it’s a quick read with a good storyline.
