Jack: Three words to describe my wife: Beautiful. Ambitious. Unforgiving.
Anna: I only need one word to describe my husband: Liar.
When a woman is murdered in Blackdown village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case. Anna’s ex-husband, DCI Jack Harper, is suspicious of her involvement, until he becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation.
Someone is lying, and some secrets are worth killing to keep.
This is the first book I’ve read by Alice Feeney and I have to say I was extremely impressed. The book drew me in from the first page and I was completely engrossed in the story and the characters. The story alternates between Jack’s point of view and Anna’s, as well as the voice of the unknown killer. Evidence against both Jack and Anna is present in these chapters so it keeps you guessing at to whether it’s one of them or someone else. There was so much thrown around during the book that at different times I was convinced it was different characters. It kept me interested the whole way through and the story never dragged. I would definitely recommend this and I can’t wait to read more from this author!
