Judi has been looking after her adult son and his own sons for years now, following the untimely death of his wife, Louise. She cleans his home, cooks his meals and collects his children from school. She loves her role in their lives. Then he meets Amber, and everything changes. Judi doesn’t trust her, she thinks she’s not who she seems. All of a sudden, within weeks of meeting, she’s taken over Judi’s family. The worst part is that nobody believes her and even her own family think she’s just jealous that someone is taking her place in the family. Is she right? Is Amber who she says she is?
I really enjoyed this book. I found it so frustrating to read as Judy was airing her concerns about everything moving too fast and nobody listened. It was one of those frustrating things of when she repeated her concerns they sounded less serious if you get me? I found her son Ben to be the dimmest character. Literally within a month of Amber meeting the children he was letting her basically run their lives. I wanted to keep reading all the time, and didn’t want to put it down because it was a very addictive storyline. Yes, there is a “twist” at the end and while it was an little bit predictable based on the previous few chapters, I think it fitted in nicely and tied up the storyline. Would definitely recommend this, I picked my copy up at the library.
