⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Little Women follows the lives of the four March sisters, who live in poverty in the nineteenth century United States. Talented tomboy and author-to-be Jo, tragically frail Beth, beautiful Meg and romantic spoiled Amy. They are all united in their devotion to each other and their struggles to survive in New England during the Civil War.
As ye will know, this is not my typical read. I enjoy more fast paced, psychological thrillers usually. But this was a welcome change from my normal reading! I absolutely loved it. I honestly didn’t think I’d be such a huge fan. I found the March sisters so likeable and I enjoyed their story so much. Normally the old-fashioned nature of the book- sexism and stuff like that- would put me off but I just fell so in love with the characters and I felt so invested in them. When things were bad for the family, I felt bad and when they were happy so was I- which is always the sign of a good book. Amy was probably my favourite character as she was just so funny without meaning to be. In saying that, I did like all of the characters and there wasn’t anyone I found annoying. I’m now reading Good Wives which is the sequel I believe? Really enjoying it and raging I didn’t get to see the movie before the cinema closed ☹️
