They say every house has its secrets, and the house that Maggie and Nina have shared for so long is no different. Except that these secrets are not buried in the past. Every other night, Maggie and Nina have dinner together. When they are finished, Nina helps Maggie back to her room in the attic, and into the heavy chain that keeps her there. Because Maggie has done things to Nina that can’t ever be forgiven, and now she is paying the price.
I had wanted to read this book for ages. It really sounded like the ideal psychological thriller and I was so excited to read! I was left a bit disappointed to be honest. I can’t even put my finger on it but something was missing. I couldn’t get fully into it and I was finding myself getting slightly bored when I was reading and putting it down after a few minutes. I felt like I couldn’t quite connect with the characters or something? The story was good and honestly it is something I normally devour so I don’t know why I struggled with it. The ending was good but I was kind of left with a few unanswered questions which annoyed me 🙈 I really think that I just didn’t connect with the book and it’s actually a good book with a good storyline. Sometimes a book just isn’t for you for no apparent reason. I’d say if you like thrillers to give this one a go!
