When Andrew Sumner meets beautiful, edgy Charlie, he is certain his run of bad luck has finally come to an end. But as the two of them embark on an intense affair, Andrew wonders if his grasp on reality is slipping. Items go missing in his apartment. Somebody appears to be following him. And as misfortune and tragedy strike his friends and loved ones, Andrew is forced to confront the frightening truth… Is Charlie really the girl of his dreams – or the woman of his nightmares?
I decided after reading The House Guest to read another Mark Edwards book, just because I wanted to see if I liked his writing or if all of his books weren’t my cup of tea. I found The House Guest a bit far-fetched so I was curious to read this. I honestly really enjoyed it. I found it so easy to read and I read about 75% of it the day I started it. The whole story was so gripping and was full of suspense. Practically every chapter had something exciting happen which I loved. The book didn’t lag or become boring at any stage. I had come up with my own theory about what was going on- I based it on a few things that Andrew said. I was right about who was involved but my thinking behind it was off. If I’m being honest, I think that something could have been made of the stuff I noticed but obviously the author didn’t intend on them being taken in the way I took them. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I won’t say exactly what I was thinking. I really did enjoy this one and I would definitely recommend it.
